Imagine that! :D

This past month or so has basically been kicking my ass. Finding a job is very difficult, flist. D: Especially when you have no work experience and go to school full-time. DDDDD: I think I finally may have managed to find something after months of looking and jfc I hope it works out *crosses fingers*

Other than that, IDK. I'm taking an intro to filmmaking class this semester for elective credits, which I was really excited about, because the Professor is awesome and the syllabus is awesome and it just seemed awesome, but everyone else in the class are pretty epic failboats and we have to work together on all film projects. :///// One of the guys there is either IRL trolling me or actualfax harrasing me, I can't rly tell, but he makes me ridic uncomfortable. And the people I'm in a group with... uhm. We had to pitch our screenplay ideas today and the one we ultimately decided on (AKA the one everyone else loved while I DDDDDDD:'d a lot) is about this epic douchebag whose GF dumps him, so he decides to test all his future dates by freaking them out and being an epic asshole on dates to see if they'll roll with it. One of those dates include him ordering for the girl at a restaurant, and telling her not to worry her "pretty little head" about what he ordered (he got himself a steak and her a salad). I think I managed to talk them out of that one, but idek. The sad part is that the only reason we'll probably drop that scene is because of the logistics involved (getting waivers from everyone in the restaurant, getting a restaurant, etc.) and not because, y'know. The epic misogyny. Basically, it's going to be an examination of the dudebro condition. I can't wait. :(((((

I did learn from film, though, that the Director of Photography is usually called the DP. Get it? DP? :D? :D?

In fannish news, I hear those Young Veins fellows are putting out a little record or something? IDK how I really feel about The Other Girl. I mean, I like the tune, and I love Ryan's ridiculous little voice (and his suit, which according to Mark Ronson is very stylish!) but the lyrics are... Well. What we've heard so far, though, and what I've heard about the listening party, makes me rly hopeful about the rest of the record. So, :D!

Ryan's interview with JMont (and JMont's purplest of prose) rly made me so so happy though, flist. He's spooky! And mysterious! But he just wants to be funny. :(((( And the sentence "To a lot of Panic! fans, Ross is a spook story — the dark yin to Brendon Urie and Spencer Smith's bright and shiny yang. " is possibly the greatest sentence ever written in the history of the English language. Bright and shiny yang!

Also, I would read so much fic based on this:

It reminded me of the stories of bb!Lennon/McCartney's writing process (somewhere, Ryan Rossy just came and he doesn't know why). They used to sit across from each other on opposite beds with guitars in their laps and write back and forth. Seriously, I just want all the ridic fic about Ryan and Jon writing music together.

Ficwise, I know some people weren't satisfied with it but from what I read so far (and I haven't read a lot) bandom_hc has been very very good to me. arsenicjade, marksykins, and fictionalaspect's fic were fantastic, and I loved a few more I can't remember right now because it's 2 AM, wtf. D:

I don't know why it makes me so fucking happy that Gerard and Lindsey went to a party at Amanda Palmer's, but it does. Almost as happy, I imagine, as Gerard was to go hang with Neil Gaiman. Can you imagine his little :) face all night? :DDDDDDDDDDDD

Amanda was kind enough to post pictures, under the cut. They look seriously awesome, imo, especially Lindsey.

Also, can I just say how ridiculously adorable AFP and Neil Gaiman are? I love them a lot, you guys.

So. Wank. Pretty much everything I want to say has been said by people far more articulate than I am. impertinence's post on the subject was both incredibly difficult to read but also very important, and it's here for those of you who have somehow missed it. Warning: It contains very explicit discussion of sexual assault and the nature, anatomy, cause & effect of triggers. Is itself triggery. Don't read it if it'll hurt you. wistfuljane over on dreamwidth also has very helpful summary posts up here and here.

I'm mostly past angry and tearful (that was last night and this afternoon, for me) and am now just incredibly disappointed, because I didn't think that this was even a subject worthy of wank. It seems pretty straight-forward to me. Put a warning on your fic in order to prevent survivors of sexual abuse from being triggered and suffering even more mental damage. No one gives a fuck about your ~*~artistic integrity~*~ if you have no personal integrity. If you're too selfish to put a goddamn warning on your fic, than I really don't want to know you because you're a shitty person.

If you're antiwarning, please defriend me. If you're not, have these picture to make you feel better about how much people suck.

Brendon is a giant dork, and his existence makes me feel better about a lot of things.

Hi! Everyone on my flist seems to be doing intro posts today, so I decided to join in, as I am nothing if not a sheep. Because I'm the least interesting person ever, though, have a picspam instead. :D?

My name is Ariel, but I go by Ellie both IRL and on the internet. I'm from Southern California, but I was born in Israel. I still have an accent when I'm nervous, though, which is fairly annoying.

I'm in bandom now, primarily! I don't have a favorite bandom band, because IL all of their stupid faces too much to chose.

But speaking of stupid faces!

This is Brendon Urie, and he is my favorite of favorite people.

Brendon's in a band called Panic at the Disco, and they spend a significant amount of time making me happy.

Ryan Rossy is also in Panic at the Disco, and he also makes me happy. My Chemical Romance makes him dance.

Jon Walker is also my favorite.

Perhaps this is why he and Brendon are my OTP. :D

Panic also has this fatty named Spencer on the drums, pictured here being a bb. We don't talk about him. Okay I'm kidding IL all Spencer Smiths.

You may have noticed that this is not Panic. In fact, this is Panic Prime, also known as Fall Out Boy.

The awesome thing about Fall Out Boy is that they have a Pete and a Joe. They, too, are my favorites (I have a lot of favorites, okay? I think we've established that you're all my favorites too ♥).

Music! I could go on for hours about What Music Means to Me, so I'll just spare you and say it's the most important thing in my life. I'm learning to play guitar, and while I'm enjoying it immensely, I'm pretty faily at it.

Books! I am the biggest bookworm ever, and I read anywhere from a book a day to a book a week, depending on what I have going on.

Harry Potter! It was my first fandom, and as such it will always have a special place in my heart. :DDDDD

About a month ago, my wisdom teeth started growing in. The pain started, to my amazing luck, on New Year's Eve, so I rang in the New Year by driving to the only open pharmacy on New Year's (near LA) to get the antibiotics/pain killers the bitchy on-call doctor prescribed on the phone.

This past month really sucked because of it, because even though the on call doctor told me my wisdom teeth were growing in side ways (as in pushing against the other teeth and the bone, and generally making a mess of things) and my dentist (with x-rays to confirm) agreed, the oral surgeon I talked to said that it wasn't my wisdom teeth, but something called TMJ, which happens when you grind your teeth a lot in your sleep. It took forever to get an appointment with another oral surgeon to confirm that the first one was indeed stupid and I actually do need to get the wisdom teeth pulled (luckily my insurance covered the appointments, though they won't cover the surgery).

It turns out that I do need to get my teeth pulled. I'll be removing all four at the time, and it's scheduled for Friday. I get to be asleep for the procedure, which I'm not sure whether or not is good thing. On one hand, I'd probably throw up on the doctor if I had to be awake while he was poking away in there. On the other hand, I've heard too many horror stories about anesthetics to not be terrified of them, even though the one I'll have isn't a full anesthetic that you need a tube shoved down your throat for, just one to make you sleeeeeeepy.

I'll admit though, when the doctor gave me the prescription for Vicodin, I went through a moment of unrestrained fannish glee. My doctor didn't know what House was, so he just looked at me strangely when I told him about house's vicodin fetish and told me that he won't give me any more prescriptions, so i'd probably be better off not getting addicted.

Yay for new episodes of House, btw.

On another note, when i was proof reading this entry, I noticed that I typed lickily instead of luckily. I think this may be one of them freudian thingys people are always talking about. ;)

Snagged from a bunch of people on my flist...

I know very little about some of the people on my friends list. Some people I know relatively well. (Some I know too well. ha!) I read your journals, or we have something else in common and we chat occasionally. Some of you I hardly know at all. Perhaps you lurk, for whatever reason. But you friended me and I thank you for your interest in my words.

But here's a thought: why not take this opportunity to tell me a little something about yourself. Any old thing at all. Just so the next time I see your name I can say: "Ah, there's so and so...they listen in rapture to the love-music of she-turnips." (Think of it as your Christmas present to me! lol)

I'd love it if every single person who friended me would do this. Yes, even you people who I know really well. Then post this in your own journal and see what gems of knowledge appear.
